On any given weekend, Wilson Griffin can be found riding his bike around San Francisco, hiking California’s National Parks, camping in Tahoe, skiing, and playing with his dog, Blanche. But despite his love of “outdoors and chill” (and trust us, Wilson is as chill as they come), his approach to both his work and his passions is immediate and purposeful. And who can blame him? He’s in the business of saving the planet, and every minute presents an opportunity to be making a difference.
Wilson sits on Gap Inc.’s Global Sustainability team where he and his team work day in and day out to minimize the environmental impact of our business. That means he spends his days thinking about how the company is going to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by the end of 2020 (for example), and how our employees and customers can help us drive significant progress towards these kind of goals.
This passion for conservation isn’t a fleeting one for Wilson – it’s something he’s always carried with him and takes very personally. “I love being outside and being in nature, and businesses have a huge part in protecting the environment so many of us enjoy. Issues like climate change are monumental challenges, and businesses like ours are going to need to lead the charge.”
It’s a big task, but he’s up for it. And, as Wilson himself said, “The polar bears can’t protect themselves – so somebody else has to try.”
Agreed. Meet Wilson.
