Get inspired to volunteer with the story of how one man changed a young person’s life — and his own.
Volunteering is a two-way benefit. Just ask Dante Green, a New York area Gap Inc. employee, who learned first-hand that he could take away as much from volunteering as he was giving back.
It’s a lesson Gap Inc. employees like Dante know well based on our promise to do more than sell clothes through efforts like volunteering. Last year alone, Gap Inc. employees volunteered a total of 558,576 hours.
During his time with a local volunteer program, Dante connected with Evelin, a young student looking for the kind of guidance her peers weren’t getting.
But guiding Evelin through her challenges gave Dante the courage to take on his own.
“Working with Evelin, and seeing her courage and wanting to try new things, it made me realize that I was holding myself back,” he said. So he stepped out of his comfort zone to pursue a job promotion he otherwise would have passed on.
