Coiffed, poised and ready for New York Fashion Week

The sidewalks of Manhattan are used to a flurry of heels, a fair share of stylish jackets and perfectly cut denim jeans. This week, though, designers, fashion watchers, and influencers from all over the world stand poised to dive into the next big thing.

New York Fashion Week — which defines the direction of the industry each year — kicks off Thursday in the U.S. style capital, lighting up runways, sidewalks, and every space in between. Gap Inc. brands will be fixtures at key events, keeping you up-to-date on the latest looks, trends and styles. 

Banana Republic

On Saturday, Sept. 12, Banana Republic unveils its Spring 2016 collection for men and women as part of an official New York Fashion Week presentation. Viewers will get a preview of the color and patterns being weaved through more than 40 looks that will fill your wardrobe next spring.

As part of the presentation, followers will also see selections from a partnership with CFDA and New York designer Timo Weiland, with products designed, cut, sewn and sold in NYC.

To get the first look, stay tuned to Banana Republic's social media, with real-time posts to Twitter and Snapchat. Wendy Nguyen of Wendy's Lookbook will be taking over @BananaRepublic's Instagram handle to share her vantage point of the show.

Derek Lam is hosting his own NYFW show, but not before helping launch the much-anticipated Derek Lam 10C x Athleta collaboration. On Sept. 8, Derek and the Athleta team will gather with influencers from across the industry at the Athleta SoHo store for a sneak peek at the product line. Follow the hashtag #DL10CxAthleta on Instagram and Twitter for looks from the event.

Old Navy

Destructed denim is a big look for fall, and Old Navy is ringing in the trend in partnership with Refinery29.

As part of 29 Rooms, Refinery29 will transform a Brooklyn warehouse into a "wild funhouse" celebrating fashion through interactive installations, art performances, and other experiences. Swing by the Old Navy room, and you can learn how to destruct your own denim look to rock during New York Fashion Week.
