We talk inside Gap Inc. about being an ethical company, and what that means. For us, it’s a question of, how do we do the right thing, with every decision we make, every day?
As employees here, we’re guided by our Code of Business Conduct (COBC) and work with the highest standards of integrity no matter where we do business around the globe. Whether it’s our store leaders in China or our merchandisers in New York, all teams operate with integrity in everything they do.
We are proud to say that we’ve been named by Ethisphere as a World’s Most Ethical Company.
Not only is this the eighth year Ethisphere, an independent center of research promoting best practices in corporate ethics and governance, has awarded us this title, but it’s the eighth year that they’ve been doing this.
We were honored that this award is based on our commitment to grow our global business with high integrity and in a responsible way. According to Ethisphere, honorees not only promote ethical business standards and practices internally, they exceed legal compliance minimums and shape future industry standards by introducing best practices today.
And while we talk about this internally through our communications and trainings, it’s a nice reminder to be recognized externally as a company that does what’s right. I’m proud of our COBC program and how our employees embrace it.
