There’s tomboy, there’s feminine, there’s new, there’s classic, but most of all, there’s edge.
This was the consensus this week, as the mediasphere welcomed a sneak peek at Banana Republic’s new summer collection – 32 looks in total.
Much of the buzz around the collection had to do with the delicate balance between putting out something decidedly new that doesn’t also abandon Banana Republic’s core customer.
There’s been chatter far and wide about Marissa Webb and #TheNewBR, but it wasn’t until this week that the world actually got a glimpse at the new creative director’s first brand collection.
And now, people are anxious to get their hands on the clothes. From Harpers Bazaar’s Instagram: “A look at @marissawebb’s first collection for @bananarepublic spring 2015 has us wishing for warmer weather.”
Marissa has said that she wants to focus on a “360 lifestyle” – where it’s not just about what you wear to work, but all those places in between, mixing and matching.
There’s also more color, but not EVERY color (Marissa says the brand was very selective, and purposefully didn’t include the whole rainbow.)
Here are photos of the collection – floral jumpers and biker vests included.
