Today, we’re excited to announce that Tom Sands is the new Executive Vice President of Gap North America. Tom will take on the new Gap brand position immediately, reporting to Steve Sunnucks, Gap’s Global Brand President.
Tom has been in the role of Executive Vice President at Old Navy, and spent most of last year co-leading that brand through a very successful year.
We’re looking forward to Tom’s new role, given his vast retail industry knowledge and 30 years of experience leading our brands and others, including roles as both a president and CEO.
He served as Old Navy’s EVP of stores from 2002 to 2005.He returned to the brand in April 2011, most recently serving as EVP of Old Navy U.S. Before joining Old Navy in 2002, Tom spent 19 years with Target Corporation.
Tom will work with the Gap North America team to help guide the transition to the new global brand structure, designed to fuel the company’s long-term growth.
He is replacing Mark Breitbard, who is leaving Jan 10. We’re grateful for all of Mark’s contributions, and yet we’re excited about this next chapter with Tom at the helm of Gap North America.
