Welcome to Gap Inc.’s very first “official” blog!
We’re excited. While we’re (fashionably) late to the blogosphere, we’ll promise to make up for it by being fun and interesting. Promise.
We’re a 41-year-old company with five brands that people in 90 countries can shop – either in stores and/or through our sites. While we’ve been expanding, we’ve learned a few things and, like many in their 40s, we’ve got lots of ideas and experiences to share.
Hopefully, you’ll soon view us as a blog – not a “corporate blog” – and get regular and real views into how we work and what we stand for.
But first, our name. The good news (for us) is that we didn’t misspell it. We liked the way it shows up – missing “d” and all. It speaks to what we do best (“dress” people) and how it suggests that we’ll be “addressing” all sorts of topics here.
We don’t mean to get all crazy-rogue on you, but we also liked the idea of breaking the rules—something Gap’s founders, Doris and Don Fisher, did with their first store in 1969.
aDressed gives us a chance to put a human voice on a company with more than 134,000 employees and 3,000 stores. We’ll be posting in this space regularly, so keep an eye on us.
In other words, we’re not the type to stand on the side and “report out.” We’ll be joining your conversations … so share, link, like, suggest and comment away!
