Dive into the Olympic spirit with Old Navy

On Aug. 5, the Olympic Torch will be lit in Rio, marking the start of the Olympic Games. Thousands of athletes will gather to show the best-of-the-best in sport.

Back in the U.S., thousands of fans will be showing their support for Team USA with the best-of-the-best fashion options from Old Navy.

The brand has released a range of product options in an Olympic Games-inspired collection. The pieces utilize performance fabrics — because, after all, it's all about sport — to create fashion-forward graphic tees and tanks for active (and patriotic) men, women, kids and toddlers.

To get inspiration for the collection, the Old Navy team visited the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) archives in Colorado Springs. After digging through thousands of pieces of Olympic memorabilia — past uniforms, vintage logos, posters and more — the team got to work designing a proud collection.

Options for showing Team USA support include graphic tees with Olympic great Muhammad Ali, as well as an Olympic Diver Graphic Tee and US Olympic Training Center Tank. There is also an LA Olympics Graphic Tee, adorned with the 1984 logo to add a vintage look to this year's Games.

"We wanted to pay homage to the athletes and Team USA, while also giving the customer our signature Old Navy active style, fit and fabric," Andres Dorronsoro, vice president and general manager of Old Navy Kids and Brand Licensing recently told Fast Company. "For the cotton-based lifestyle collection, we aimed to create product with nods of nostalgia."

The collection to support Team USA in Rio — which follows a collection that supported U.S. athletes in 2012 for the Olympic Games in London — is in stores now.
