Not sure what to wear for winter? Pay attention. One of the annual "it" moments for fashion kicks off tomorrow in New York City — Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. A week-long celebration of all things style, top designers will define trends for Fall/Winter 2015. (Hint: expect ’60s and ’70s inspired clothing, more influence from menswear and edgy, punk-rock looks.)
Descending on the Big Apple will be designers and fashion houses, such as Alexander Wang and Carolina Herrera, as well as celebrities and fashionistas such as Kanye West, Lupita Nyong'o and Elle Fanning. Oscar De La Renta will be showing the first collection since the designer's death in October 2014. Street style is expected to be inspired by the harsh NYC weather — particularly the snow — during the last Fashion Week to be held at the infamous Lincoln Center for Performing Arts.
And Gap Inc. brands will be stitching their own looks into the Fashion Week experience with highly anticipated presentations and styling.
Banana Republic will host the brand’s first-ever presentation this Saturday. Marissa Webb and team will be on-hand to show off the fall collection, which already has received some serious buzz. Marissa will do double duty at Fashion Week with a show for her own line as well, to be held on Thursday.
Whether you are heading to Fashion Week or just want to look like you are, Intermix has you covered. Check out the styling tips from their team, shop their favorite looks, and learn about the hottest designers to keep an eye on throughout the week.
Of course, fashion isn't all about defining trends and cutting edge styles — even something as simple as a classic tee has a place on the runway. Volunteers and staff at each of the shows throughout the week will be donning Gap, as the T-shirt supplier of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
